Good news, Bad news, Who knows?
There is a Taoist parable that tells the story of a farmer going through some trials and tribulations. It goes something like this.
A farmer comes home one day with a new horse. He puts the horse in the stable and the next morning it is gone. His neighbour laments, “Thats bad news what will you do”.
The farmer responds, “Good news, bad news, who knows?”
The next day the horse comes back and brings another horse with it. The neighbour replies, “Oh you are so lucky”.
The farmer replies, “Good news, bad news, who knows.”
The farmer gives the second horse to his son. The next day the son falls of the horse and brakes his leg. The neighbour replies, “You are so unlucky you will have no one to help with the crops”.
The farmer says, you guessed it, Good news, bad news, who knows”?
A week later the emperor gathers all young and able men to go of to war. The farmers son is spared. Good news, bad news, who knows?
It is what it is. The same as it ever was. Such is life, todays tragedy is tomorrows blessing. It is easy to get caught up in all the propaganda and chaos of todays pandemic situation. It is also just as easy to be creative or look for possibility. It could be a time of finding a deeper sense of purpose or connection, not only for your self but with your love ones. Life is a gift in all its adaptions. The challenges we face today are gifts that make us stronger tomorrow.
Today we had an online group meditation about 70 or so. There was some meditating, sharing and playing with the experience of consciousness. For 5 hours we played with meditation and not one person mentioned the pandemic. It was wonderful. There was just offerings about peace, contentment and gentleness.
