Life will always offer Challenges …. We can either respond or react.
Life is not what happens to us, it is more how we respond to what happens to us. Challenges confront us every day. Every challenge has the opportunity to create conscious growth, or to lead one to remain at the mercy of the effects of external conditions. Chaos and order are the yin and yang of what is life. We strive for order, but life as often as not presents us with challenges. It can be as simple as getting up late and being late for work or losing something or someone to misfortune.
There are two ways to be with anything in a conscious way or an unconscious way. One is reactive and often is filled with chaos. The other is the acceptance of the isness of what is and deal with through right action.
Right action is making the best conscious choices for whatever the situation is as it unfolds.
In Buddhism there is the Nobel eightfold path of right action.
1 Right understanding
2 Right thought.
3 Right speech
4 Right action
5 Right livelihood
6 Right effort
7 Right mindfulness
8 Right concentration
The eight parts of the path of liberation are grouped into three essential elements of Buddhist practice, moral conduct, mental discipline, and wisdom. The Buddha taught the eightfold path in virtually all his discourses.
They are meant to be followed from one to eight, as one leads to the other, but often as not they are conjoined and grow spontaneously.
The basics are ethical conduct, mental discipline, and wisdom, All of which are gained from experience and practice. They offer many of the cornerstones to waking up.
